Why work? 1- Working is a big part of the ProStart program. By working you get real world work experience that relates to and reinforces what you learn in the classroom. 2- If you want to earn the Certificate of Achievement award, you are required to work a minimum of 400 hours in the food service and restaurant industry. 3- Working will give you a head start toward a career in the restaurant and food service industry or in continuing your education at a college or a university.

Need help applying for a job? Be sure to include the fact that you’re a ProStart student on your resume, on applications and in interviews. Say something like: “I’m enrolled in the ProStart program. ProStart is a culinary arts and restaurant management class for high school students that was developed by the National Restaurant Association.”
Letters of Confirmation When you’re ready to look for a job, let your ProStart teacher know so your personal Letter of Confirmation can be prepared and sent to you. This is like a letter of recommendation. Attach this letter to your job application and your future employer will be impressed! |
